Fishing:
There are several fishing opportunities at Fore Shore. Fishing on the surf, the sound, using crab pots, or visiting one of the many fishing piers in the Outer Banks.
THE BEACH ACCESS
The closest beach access is the Nags Head Town Hall access. At the stoplight between Village Realty and Outback, go straight across. On Beach Road, turn right. The access is about one-fourth of a mile on the right. There is a parking lot and bathroom. The beach is about 700 yards from the house.
THE SOUND ACCESS
The house is right behind Village Realty and the Fire Station on 158. This is the easiest way to show you how to find the Sound Access. It's about 700 yards from the house as well.
As our guests, you have access to the private pier on the sound (see map here for how to get to the sound access; note: the house is located just behind Village Realty and the fire station on 158 on the map). This is a great place to use crab pots. Raw chicken usually works best for baiting the pots. Place the chicken inside the small door on the bottom of the pot and close the door. Make sure when you drop the pot into the water that the bottom of the pot lays on the sound bottom.
Here's an entertaining activity for kids - Tie a piece of raw chicken on a string. Throw it into the water from the pier. Slowly drag the string back in. Often there will be a crab holding onto the piece of chicken. The crab will continue to hold on until it is raised out of the water. If you have a net, you can catch the crabs this way before they turn loose.
